Explain the material selection of spring fingers?

At present, there are three main materials used in GIS spring tentacles, namely chromium zirconium copper (implementation standard ASTM-C18150).

Beryllium cobalt copper (implementation standard ASTM-C17500) and beryllium copper (implementation standard ASTM-C17200), the main characteristics of the three materials.

As can be seen from the table below, the conductivity is arranged from largest to smallest as chromium zirconium copper Z high and beryllium copper Z low. The strength is arranged from high to low as chromium zirconium copper Z low and beryllium copper Z high. The higher the conductivity, the lower the strength.

Can the spring finger with high conductivity have low strength and small contact pressure, and the flow capacity can exceed the spring finger of beryllium cobalt copper? It is mentioned in the literature that the allowable current density of beryllium cobalt copper is 2 times that of beryllium copper. Through a number of GIS temperature rise tests, the spring fingers of beryllium cobalt copper and chrome zirconium copper of the same size were installed in the same position for comparison. The test current is 2000~4400A. The test found that under the same current, the temperature rise of the contact surface of the spring contact finger of chromium zirconium copper is 4~10 °C lower than that of the spring contact surface of beryllium cobalt copper, and the larger the test current, the more obvious the difference. The test proved that although the chromium zirconium copper spring using high conductivity material has low contact strength and small contact pressure, the conductivity is still significantly better than that of beryllium cobalt copper using lower conductivity material.

Dongguan Spring Spring Electronics Co., Ltd. (SiS) was established in October 2011, specializing in the design, testing and manufacturing of elastic conductive electronic components, and moved to Chang'an Town, Dongguan in May 2018. The company has CNC lathe workshop, finger workshop, assembly workshop, laboratory. Based on the increasing requirements of the connector industry for high-current connectors, Spring Springs Electronics has developed a new type of bidirectional coil spring finger (SiS®) and single-turn spring finger , forming multiple columnar deformation contact points (up to more than 300 points). It can meet the service life of more than 100,000 times, the spring contact current density and temperature rise are close to the transmission cable, and the plugging force is about 10N. PCB board connectors (board-to-board USC, board-to-wire), cylindrical quick-swappable self-locking connectors (plastic and metal shells), male and female weight-load connectors, electric vehicle chargers, high-voltage power battery pack series connectors, used in Z advanced high-current energy collectors, energy storage and electrical equipment, such as: electric vehicles, charging base stations, wind energy generators, power supplies, high-speed rail, heavy trucks, etc. The company has a number of national patents, and the products have passed international standard testing.
